In 1854, a group of French scientists arrived at Abisko to demostrate how the Earth exacts size and shape. De Maupertuis, chief of the expedition, wrote a book entitled "Jordens Figur" in which he related the measurement results and his experience there.
In 2014, the Royal Insitute of Art (Stockholm) students were at Abisko to develop an artistic research at the Swedish Polar Station. I was a member of this group and I was amazed to see how the light changes very fast there. Along with the light phenomenum I was also taken by the inmensity of the nature. Within this naturally occuring context the human being can feel small and defenceless. I felt as if I was part of nature when thinking about the possibility of a truth beyond the world of experience. Unspeakable, indefinable, unexplainable. The Sublime.
