To collect, modify, elevate, re-code and make visible.
To stage again and phase between,
Art and the object.
ObjectOr presents artists who utilize varying processes and materials that either make use of, or pertain to, the 'object'. Object based work is a driving force in contemporary art, but to outsiders is still seen as challenging and mysterious. This type of work tends to disrupt audiences' expectations of the artist-hand, as beauty and labor are often overtaken by concept and intention. When used effectively, object-art re-imagines the chosen materials' inherently highly-coded nature; catalyzing new cultural definitions of purpose while beautifully narrating otherwise static commodities.
