1973 helicopter rescue at Granite Reef Dam on the Salt River, near Mesa, Arizona, by a USAF Reserve crew from the 302nd Air Rescue & Recovery Squadron at Luke AFB. This is from the original 16mm film shot by a local TV news crew. PJ Al Richmond is the crewman lowered to the river, and the PJ operating the hoist is the late Raleigh Curtis. Al believes that one of the pilots is the late Larry Rolle, but we haven't been able to confirm the other pilot. The helicopter is Sikorsky HH-34J USAF S/N 148938, which is reportedly now on display at the National Atomic Museum at Kirkland AFB, NM.
