On Wednesday, the UAB Hill University Center Great Hall was transformed into a melting pot of cultures, overflowing with students donning vibrantly-colored garbs – from dashikis to head wraps, foot-tapping sounds of infectious drumbeats as well as hypnotizing smells of foods and spices that span the globe.
For 11 years, UAB has celebrated the campus’ diversity with its international bazaar. Students who, most days, sport UAB sweatshirts, jeans and sneakers, show off their culture by wearing ethnic clothing and colorful makeup and jewelry. They stood proudly in front of display boards that gave the 411 about their country’s culture.
