In a distant corner of New York City, perched on a peninsula with a view of the ocean, is a school with a remarkable teacher, Mary Bozzone. Only Mary would say that she is not the remarkable one, the stars are her students.
In a career long on innovation, honors, and success Mary added a new chapter. With the support of her school and district Mary had a national organization dedicated to technology and design known as "Mouse Squad" become her partner in the classroom. Students became the technical support team for the school, dismantling computers, analyzing problems, and using online resources to keep learning from being derailed by broken technology.
The students are the heroes of the school. Even more impressive, they are students with special needs. Of course, in their school on the peninsula, everyone would say that means the students are special because they are truly needed. Mary would not disagree.
