During its 10th Anniversary celebration in Washington, DC on April 19, 2012, the Migration Policy Institute (MPI) held a ceremony and awards program. MPI President Demetrios Papademetriou opened the program (0:01), which included Leadership in Public Policy Awards for the lead sponsors of the 1986 Immigration Reform and Control Act, former Sen. Alan Simpson (R-WY) (17:27) and former Rep. Ron Mazzoli (D-KY) (14:25 and 21:00); a Leadership in International Migration Policy Award to former Italian Prime Minister Giuliano Amato (31:17); a Global Visionary Award to Open Society Foundations President Aryeh Neier (36:45); and Young Innovator Awards to the co-founders of the OneVietnam Network, Uyen Nguyen and James Huy Bao (57:15). The evening featured video acceptance remarks from Sen. Simpson; a discussion between Rep. Mazzoli and MPI Senior Fellow Doris Meissner; a keynote address by Mr. Neier; acceptance of the Amato award by Italian Embassy representative Cristiano Maggipinto; acceptance remarks by Ms. Nguyen; and closing comments by the chair of MPI's Board of Trustees, Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio (01:04:31).
