August, 2009: East Taiga, Mongolia
Ultsan and Solonga, a brother and sister in their early 20's, tend to the herd while their father, Bat, works at a tourist camp on Khovsgol lake. From slaughtering a sheep, to milking reindeer; this is an ordinary day in the Taiga.
This is one in a series of documentary shorts exploring Mongolian culture and religion, sponsored by a Fulbright grant.
Note: this video shows graphic imagery of an animal being slaughtered.
