We recently sat down with Shinsuke Takizawa, head designer of Japanese menswear brand NEIGHBORHOOD at the brand’s new storefront in the Shibuya district of Tokyo. During our talk, Shinksuke discussed why he felt compelled to open a new store in the Shibuya ward, a place he explains differs in atmosphere and culture from the original Harajuku location. In concept and design, the stores share a common bond in that both express an extraordinary array of vintage furniture and fixtures, as well as a vast collection of NEIGHBORHOOD’s quality vintage-inspired items. And while Shinsuke prides himself on retaining the original spirit the brand was founded with, he certainly seems open to the challenges that await as NEIGHBORHOOD expands into new regions and different places around the world.
