Romance & Light: Spring/Summer 2012
Inspired by the innate sensuality of the female body itself, the designer Katheryn Rice has brought into being the line Carmella out of an intense longing to emphasize the archetypal hourglass shape. The vision is for the wearer to feel at ease journeying from daytime to evening in as graceful way as the dresses themselves, evoking the ideal of all things feminine.
The Spring/Summer 2012 collection is, primarily, a composition of dresses that are simple, well-tailored silhouettes. Each piece, although thoroughly modern in style, is fused with romantic elements culled from bygone eras. Fabrics have been attentively selected to glide over the natural curves of the body, lightly, tenderly, and without constraint. They comprise of silk crepe de Chine, silk chiffon, silk cotton with lace accents, and Italian yarns for knits. A sweet, monochromatic palette accentuates skin tone but contains an underlying depth that adds sophistication to its bashful innocence. The palette is expanded upon by the white of Tulips, the bareness of Nude, the sweetness of Honey, the erubescence of Dahlias, the blush of Rose and the mystery of Black Lilies.
Created in Los Angeles, Carmella’s garments are constructed to represent all the alluring, sultry complexities of women. Although there is never a disregard for luxurious, elegant tailoring, the garments remain fresh and uncomplicated. Carmella is the dreamy gift to the narrative of women. All women have a story to tell, lives to live and love to be experienced. The philosophy of the brand of Carmella is for every woman, who is clothed by the label, to feel ascertain of her strength of being as an unblushing woman of grace, elegance and passion.
