I'm almost afraid to share this, lest I blow your mind at an inconvenient time. I hand painted a normal map to light our rocket so it interacts and avoids the typical sprite look with baked in lighting. It was something I'd thought of early on and wrote off because it seemed over-complicated or too time consuming. But a fellow Lamestreamer brought it up again. So I gave it a shot, and it wasn't that bad. Plus, it looks awesome and still maintains the hand painted look of the game. I think this is going to be a really fun graphical treatment for our more complex assets. Now it's just a question of how many hundreds of lights we can fit in the game before it melts your device.
