Kubatana is an online community for Zimbabwean activists that is "harnessing the democratic potential of the Internet" and other technologies as a tools to strengthen NGOs and civil society organisations and make information about human rights and civic education more accessible in communities where resources are scarce.
One of Kubatana's projects is "Freedom Fone", an open source platform for mobile phones that aims to make it easy to create and share information using only voice and requiring only mobile network coverage, which means communities that do not have access to the Internet are given a way to share.
