The KURINGA Theatre of the Oppressed Qualification Program has 10 Modules designed by Bárbara Santos, artistic director of KURINGA Association and colleague of Augusto Boal in Brazil for almost two decades at Centre of Theatre of the Oppressed (CTO) as General Coordinator.

Bárbara Santos has worked extensively in the design, implementation, coordination, supervision and evaluation of training programs of Theatre of the Oppressed with theatre groups, cultural and social organizations in Brazil, Palestine, Guiné-Bissau, Mozambique, Germany and several other countries.

She is the artistic coordinator of TOgether project, a partnership between experienced practitioners of Theatre of the Oppressed from Germany, Croatia, Portugal, Scotland, Spain, Italy and France with evaluation of Bologna University.

The KURINGA qualification program combines the theoretical deepening with practical experiences - abstract discussion with the concrete enlightening -, contributing to the consistent development of the praxis of the method. This program is based on three pillars: training, multiplication and evaluation.

This initiative aims to produce a base for a consistent and reliable curriculum for permanent qualification courses in the Method of Theatre of the Oppressed and to stimulate the groundwork for the transformation of reality through formation of and exchange between TO community groups.

Participation is open to anyone who wants to deepen his or her knowledge and develop a practice in Theatre of the Oppressed. However, civil society organizations, wishing to invest in the qualification of their colleagues and engage in community actions aimed to overcome injustices, will be given priority for participation and monitoring.
