Continents is the remix about plate tectonics and global exploration, originally recorded oldskool analog during the early 1990s and released here for the first time as the newest science & education videomusic single from Lyndon Lorenz.
Musically, the bed track was laid down onto a Fostex X30 multitrack cassette recorder, with drums programmed in the Roland TR707. The PlanetAndy b&w strat copy special was hooked in for the guitar parts, with bass from a Rickenbacker 4003. Three tracks for the acapella vocal rondos were miked on an Audio-Technica AT41, with everything remixed down in 2011 from the 4.5-minute original in GarageBand.
Lots of public-domain video clips were dug up from the Prelinger Archive (and related subcollections) at archive.org:
-- Our Shrinking World (1946) and Look To Lockheed For Leadership (1940) for all the b&w footage
-- Lots of contemporary teaching aids such as the NASA Connect classroom videos and the Goddard Space Flight Center's Hologlobe series
-- Energy From The Crust (1970s) for the Earth science animation during the end
