I haven't really explored Houdini particles a lot. I used to do a fair bit of particle work using PFLOW in 3dsmax. So I am now trying to shift those skills to Houdini.
This is a simple texture based emission test. I later on cached the particles to disk just to push the particle count and see if I could get a render resembling Krakatoa. The final particle count is roughly 1 million particles per frame at peak count. Rendered using Mantra.
Tutorial coming soon...... hopefully in 24 hours. :)
