To the many, many people who know him, Steve Baker is all about UNC. A successful Greeley real estate agent, Steve gets to know just about everyone who comes into town and he always has news to share about the University.
“Steve is an absolute cheerleader for the University,” said Chalice Springfield, CEO of Sears Real Estate in Greeley. “He talks to students of all ages about the value of higher education and he encourages them to get on campus and get involved with UNC.”
Former President of the UNC Alumni Association, Steve has been a dedicated volunteer and advocate for UNC for more than 27 years. He has served on numerous committees including the UNC Foundation Board of Directors, UNC School of Performing and Visual Arts Community Advisory Board, UNC Blue and Gold Board of Directors, and the Northern Vision Advisory Board. An avid supporter of athletics, Steve is credited with helping create the Men’s Basketball Roundball Club.
A lifelong Greeley resident, Steve is also involved with other community organizations including the Greeley Area Realtors Association, the Northern Colorado Medical Center Foundation, the chamber of commerce and more. A tireless volunteer and advocate, Steve’s expertise is in high demand among area nonprofits.
But Steve is valued for more than putting in volunteer hours or fulfilling committee initiatives. He is recognized for bringing the ideal of “service” to life through his words and actions. He serves UNC with pride and grace, and his genuine admiration for the university always shines through.
“Steve is an exemplary picture of what an alum should and could do for their alma mater,” Springfield said. “I cannot think of anyone more deserving of this award than Steve Baker.”
