A before/ after demonstration of dialogue editing, minimal Foley, audio editing, and final mix on the short film "New Girl" (not to be confused with the recent TV series).
This video incrementally shows how I took the location audio (which I also recorded) and polished it up using alternate takes, compression, EQ, sweetening, and good old fashioned splicing.
"Before" sections use raw location audio (recorded in stereo, usually to capture either 2 different levels of boom audio, or boom in one channel and lav(s) in the other); "After" sections feature the final mix with background music, subtle Foley/ sfx, and balanced dialogue levels.
