Title: Developing Innovative Networked Experiences: Augmented Collaboration, Networking, and the Internet of Things
Abstract: The evolving Internet is a highly capable platform for creating innovative and compelling networked experiences. These networked experiences include mobile and immersive multimedia experiences, highly connected mobile and social experiences, and a new paradigm of experiences centered around the Internet of Things. At the heart of the Internet is a network infrastructure that is undergoing the largest shift in decades towards software-defined networking and network function virtualization, and open source efforts such as Open Daylight and OPNFV are at the center of this transition. Mobility, location services, and IoT are making the network not only a source of connectivity, but also a source of rich information that can be used for creating compelling applications and services that provide value to users and businesses. Advances in drones and robotics are advancing IoT from being fixed sensing infrastructures to mobile sensing and responding infrastructures.
In this presentation, we will discuss innovative networked experiences in augmented collaboration, the Internet of Things, and SDN and NFV. We will discuss the importance of the developer ecosystem and give an example in the context of a developer environment for IoT. We will also stress the importance of taking a user experience-driven approach to creating these innovations.
