I'm a filmmaker who loves food and deep human connection. I want to create films with a dash of whimsy, a sprinkle of quirk, and a dollop of magic. My works are influenced & inspired by aging, dreams, circuses, accordions, forbidden love, awkwardness, absurdly powerful passion, and vulnerability. So many stories to tell, so many people to meet, such little time!
...But, there's always time for a tea party!
I majored in Motion Picture Arts at Interlochen Arts Academy, a high school boarding school in Michigan.
Since then I've been vagabonding all over the U.S. (and occasionally the world!) My senior year of high school my film Hello from Malaysia was screened in the White House at the first ever White House Student Film Festival. I was interviewed by Bill Nye the Science Guy. It was in this experience that I realized that anything is possible. Since then I've spent my days collecting memories, learning about whatever strikes my fancy (currently polyphonic throat singing & alternative lifestyles), pouring my love into new connections (life is about love- seriously) all while making films and music. In December 2013 I released my first music album "Confused Travels" under my music name Miss Whimsy. In 2014 I had my first film festival win at Mosaic Film Experience with my film Girly. Since then I've gone on to win and be screened at film festivals all over the world- most notably Portland Oregon Women's FF, LA FF, Guam International FF, Cucalorus FF, San Diego FF, Chicago International Children's FF, Colchester International FF, and Nasheville FF to name a few. I have directed / co-directed over 25 shorts & music videos. Five of these shorts are a part of my co-directed, co-starring musical comedy web series Absurducopia. In April 2015 I was awarded Best Emerging Female Filmmaker at NFFTY Film Festival in Seattle, WA. In May 2015 I traveled to Cannes Film Festival where my film Tree Hugger was a part of the Short Film Corner.
I am in the works of developing a blog for and about young filmmakers. Stay tuned for that.
