Animal Liberation Victoria (ALV) was founded in 1978 to abolish animal exploitation. Embracing the principle of non-violence, ALV rescue teams openly investigate animal factories to rescue sick and injured animals and to document the cruel conditions hidden from the public. These ‘open rescues’ are based on the moral premise that it is wrong to knowingly let any individual, regardless of their species, die an unnecessarily slow, agonising and painful death.
ALV also educates the public about cruelty free living and promotes veganism as a kinder, healthier and more earth friendly lifestyle.
