Anna Pidgorna is a composer and media artist who combines her interests in sonic objects, visual art and writing to create works that are dramatic and picturesque. She works in both the acoustic and electronic realms, independently and in conjunction. Evelyn’s Watcher was her first foray into live electronic processing and was performed by Andrew Morrow at Calgary’s Happening New Music Festival in January 2011. Having a special interest in theatre, she is currently working on her second chamber opera, On the Eve of Ivan Kupalo, funded by a fellowship from the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies. Her first exploration of the genre, Shards, was written and premiered in 2006 with the help of the J.E.A. Crake Undergraduate Summer Research Grant. Ms. Pidgorna completed her undergraduate studies at Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick in 2007 and is pursuing a master’s degree at the University of Calgary.
