At age 27, Bennyroyce is realizing his dream of living and working in New York City as a dancer and a choreographer. He was born in Laguna, Philippines and grew up in Auburn, Washington.
Bennyroyce started professional training at age 16 with the Evergreen City Ballet Academy, under artistic director, Wade Walthall. Two years later, at age 18, he was accepted into The Juilliard School and later received his BFA in 2006.
As a member of the Juilliard Dance Ensemble, Bennyroyce danced notable works by Jose Limon, Paul Taylor, Mark Morris and world premieres by Jessica Lang, Jacqulyn Buglisi, Ron Brown, Eliot Feld, Alan Hineline, and Jill Johnson. While at Juilliard, Bennyroyce hadthe honor of being mentored by such distinguished dancers and mentors as Risa Steinberg, Alexandra Wells, Stephen Pier, and Lawrence Rhodes.
He joined the Metropolitan Opera Ballet for its 2006/2007 season where he performed in the new production of Madama Butterfly, the premiere of The First Emperor, starring Placido Domingo, and in Turandot. In July 2007, Bennyroyce joined Rasta Thomas’ new all male company “Bad Boys of Dance” with a debut performance at Jacob's Pillow’s 75th anniversary. He has toured extensively within Canada & Europe while dancing with Cas Public, a Montreal-based contemporary dance company. Additionally, Bennyroyce has freelanced with numerous dance companies in New York City including Aszure & Artists, Sidra Bell Dance NY, and Collective Body Dance Lab.
Bennyroyce has taught in Seattle, New York City, Montréal, and Jacob's Pillow and received choreographic commissions from Evergreen City Ballet, Bad Boys of Dance, The Juilliard School, and most recently with Atlanta Ballet.
He currently dances for Armitage Gone! Dance and produces dance projects under his collaborative group Bennyroyce Dance Productions, which he founded in 2006.
