Bertie started out working and training as an actor in Cork City with the Gaiety School of Acting and on some small independent films. He has also trained in the Stella Adler studio in Los Angeles, Lee Strasberg studio in West Hollywood and Improv Olympic Hollywood. Bertie worked his way up to bigger films such as 'Guerrilla' which was produced by Dunsany Productions and then he got his first role on TV with Sterling Productions on the hit show called 'Maru' which aired on TG4. Bertie went on to work with Sterling Productions one more time before jetting off for America where he trained as an actor and filmmaker. He auditioned in LA for some big TV shows and got his break on a very successful independent Horror film called 'Chemical 13'.. from there Bertie worked with mainly the same people throughout the rest of his stay in America and shot two more films in which he wrote one called 'Oh The Accent!' which aired on Planet 3 TV. Bertie returned to Ireland and was cast as the lead in 'Meteor commercial' which had a a lot of air time and he got to writing another film called 'Jacob Wrestling With The Angel' in which he produced and directed also. He then got another decent cameo role in the RTE/Filmbase funded short film 'Empty' with was produced by Fastnet Films. Bertie has reached many Irish festivals with his film Jacob Wrestling With The Angel and his life long dream of going to Cannes came true when Jacob was accepted as apart of the Short Film Corner. Bertie is now in pre-production with his new film 'Obey' and is penning several scripts and treatments for his upcoming projects in which he is garnering plenty of interest from co-producers and the funding authorities. Bertie is directed his third short film in November 2014 and is also developing his feature film DT's for the end of next year.
