From the filmmaker: the changing world of 360

March 8, 2017 by derickrhodes Staff

John Engstrom is an accomplished NYC-based lighting designer, DP, AND the owner of one of the city’s leading production rental houses, Scheimpflug. He’s also been involved in 360 videos and production technologies since the early days — working on Doug Liman’s groundbreaking “Invisible” series and consulting for a wide array of brands. All this is to say: he knows 360 in and out. And that’s why we reached out to him for the launch of Vimeo 360.

We’re thrilled that John came on board to handle lighting and DP our first Vimeo 360 video. And we’re extra grateful that he took the time to impart some of his hard-earned 360 wisdom: watch on to hear his take on immersive tech, learn how the landscape has changed, and pick up his advice for those looking to get into 360.

If you’re looking for more insight into the world of 360, watch our interview with charity: water’s video producer — or hop over to 360 Video School for more lessons.
