I am an ethnographer (cultural anthropologist) specializing in Japan and human consciousness. My past work explored religious pilgrimages and asceticism among contemporary Japanese. I am beginning research into religious communities in the virtual and cyberspace domains. My film experience lies mostly with natural setting video capture on pilgrimages, combined with stills and planned landscape shots. I use two cameras: 1) A Canon HD handheld camcorder, with shots at 24P with an optional rail setup that allows me to attach Nikon camera lenses for depth of field shots. 2) The GoPro HeroHD, attached to a head mount for filming in motion. I convert all video to ProRes422 and edit in Final Cut Pro.
