After growing up in Latin America and West Africa, and performing as a violinist since the age of 5, Emilie Ohana was trained as an actress in New York and Paris.
She participated in numerous plays and popular TV shows co-starring renowned French actors such as Mireille Darc and André Dussolier before obtaining lead parts in international productions such as “Vatel” by Roland Joffé with Uma Thurman, “Paris, Je T’aime”, which both opened the Cannes Film Festival 2006, and later “New York, I Love You”, in which she played the main linking character, Zoé, the video artist.
Based in Shanghai since 2009, Emilie has been working on several films and TV series in mainland China and Hong Kong with established directors. She was the lead of the 2015 TV series “Love Me If You Dare” that was seen by more than a billion viewers in China.
Emilie is also active on the theater scene, performing in international plays, local productions and musicals. She was recently Sally Bowles in “Cabaret”, the musical.
She has also been discovering and exploring contemporary Chinese theatre: Emilie collaborated with the Chinese acclaimed playwright Nick Rongjun Yu on “Drift”. She was the lead in “North Bank Suzhou Creek”, a play written by William Sun, and directed by acclaimed Michael Leibenluft and Jeffrey Sichel, a musical set in Shanghai in 1942. Emilie played Shana, a young Jewish refugee trapped in a love triangle between a Chinese resistant and a Japanese official, singing in French, English, Chinese and Yiddish.
Emilie was also on tour all around China to play the part of Meg Greenfield in “Top Secret, The Battle for The Pentagon Papers” directed by Brian Kite for L.A. Theatre Works; as a strong statement in favor of freedom of press, this play became a great success and was performed in all the largest venues in the country.
Emilie is today one of the most active Foreign actresses in China, now preparing for the lead part in the Chinese equivalent of “Game of Thrones”, as she will play Queen Moses in “The City of Lost Memory” (2017).
