Brooklyn Studios for Dance is a new space for pedagogy and practice inside a 1920’s era gymnasium at Cadman Congregational Church in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. Inspired by a shared reverence for gathering space, the church congregation and the dance community have entered a partnership to share a facility. The mission of BkSD is to a serve the professional dance community while at the same time building a culture of local engagement that responds to the interests of both communities.
During its 2015 build-out, BkSD volunteers renovated the gymnasium space inside the Cadman Church, establishing studio space in which dance classes, workshops, presentations and performances will be offered. The first launch period of classes and activities took place in May 2015. A full roster of classes and events will be offered in the fall of 2015.
