This is a film produced by Ben Pierce and myself on the introduction of brown trout to New Zealand based on my PhD thesis that we've entered into a competition put on by the Royal Society of New Zealand for young researchers. Please follow the link above or to vote for us
The Drift inflatable paddle board by BOTE is a fistful of firsts, featuring the first ever wood inlay deck on an inflatable paddle board, BOTE's first Tackle Rac compatible inflatable and the first inflatable to come in it's own waterproof bag. This go anywhere, do anything paddle board is an uncompromising design bringing together all of the best features of our solid boards, with ease of a flexible board, and with several awesome designs to choose from, the BOTE Drift does it in style.
Another collaborative effort resulting in a short tribute to native Bull Trout. An officially threatened species, they are under constant assault from industry, resource extraction, mainstream river dewatering, poaching, invasive species, dams and climate change. Bull Trout require not only a healthy, but intact, river system to survive. They exist today in less than 50 percent of their original habitat. Bull Trout are a critical indicator species and signify a healthy eco-system.
We spent a few days documenting Bull Trout during their late summer migration from the large mainstream rivers to their cooler spawning grounds in small tributaries. Fascinating watching these large apex predators in these tiny headwater creeks.
A classic summer adventure through Montana's vast wilderness, floating on the roadless South Fork Flathead River. Follow the Wild Confluence crew on their fully self supported packraft adventure as they enjoy some of the finest fly fishing in the lower 48, endless solitude and the rhythm of this pristine river. And just as the trip of a lifetime is about to come to a close things take an unexpected turn for the worse...
