The upcoming release of coach Steve Friederang's new book, Perfecting Practice is the subject of this presentation. Steve is purposely and joyfully controversial. His intention is to help coaches re-think and re-imagine their role and to put swimmers at the center of reponsibility for developing habitual excellence. The coach's role becomes that of a leader and architect of the most effective environment in producing habitual growth and excellence. He encourages an EyeSwim in every lane every day for example that the SWIMMERS use to video and examine thier own strokes. This paradigm shift that puts swimmers at the center releases coaches from responsibily without control (one great defintion of stress). Steve encourages coaches to send him complete workout videos to post, and to stay interactive with him as they grow and improve in the intended path of growth.
