Karen Hoffman is an occupational therapist at the Royal London Hospital specialising in rehabilitation of patients with traumatic injuries, including neurotrauma. She talks about her work as a research fellow with the Centre for Trauma Sciences, where she has undertaken research into trauma patient outcomes, and set up AfterTrauma, the UK's first website dedicated to helping survivors of polytrauma (ie multiple major injuries) on their recovery journey.
Dr Kevin Jones is a Clinical Psychologist at the UK National Spinal Injuries Centre, Stoke Mandeville Hospital. He talks about managing the psychological impact of spinal injury due to major trauma: few prior events can prepare people for the major physical changes and psychological trauma that comes when their lives that are so suddenly and permanently altered.
