As some of you know, I’ve been compiling footage for a documentary with the band It’s True for the last nine months or so. On Sunday night we had a party at Barley St that was part SXSW sendoff party/fundraiser and record listening party. The band also invited me to put together a little work-in-progress cut of the footage that I’ve shot so far.
I edited together about 18 minutes of footage and we borrowed a projector for the screening. There were about 60 people in attendance and I was overwhelmed by the positive reception! I didn’t let the band see the cut before we screened it and I know they were nervous, but, after the screening, they all seemed genuinely pleased with my treatment of their music and process.
A few disclaimers about the video:
*This is a little rough. There are patches of audio that need some major work and nothing is color corrected.
*This isn’t a trailer or an excerpt from the complete film. I’m hoping to make this into a feature-length documentary at some point and the purpose of this cut was to have something fun to screen on Sunday night. I also really wanted the band to have something to show to everyone as we head down to SXSW (yeah, I’m writing this from our hotel room in Texas).
