We hiked up Donner Peak with plans of skiing the heart but unfortunatly the stars were not aligned. After I dropped in I paused at the second rollover and let my sluff by. What the camera didn't catch was the resulting avalanch below me. With the mountain rapidly heating up the decision was made to retreat back up the slope via boot pack. After that we decided to take the safer rout down the ridge and ducked into the tunnels. We emerged above the final face and skied to the car that had been stashed. Recent snow and warming combined to make some funky conditions, but it was still a fun day. Point of view; Josh Senning. Skier in grey; Darren Kramer. Skier in orange; Justin Wright.
Went for a late afternoon hike up ward peak after work. the hike up we had good visibility with broken clouds and blue ski, but as we reached the summit the weather moved back in again and the light turned flat. The snow was powder turning a little funky at the bottom. Not bad for the end of april.
We went in search of powder, and we found it. I eved had to dodge some of my sluff in the steeps. The snow stayed good most of the way down turning to corn near the bottom. The video and audio are raw with no music and little editing. It was shot from the point o view of Josh Senning. The other skiers are Luke Feuerhelm, and Eamon Duane. The powder hound is Coletrane. Enjoy.
Today was actually my first time down the infamous Heart Chute. The snow was stable and wintry, a little firm in the choke, made it very interesting. We walked the old train tunnels and had some fun porn snow (mushy wet powder) back to Donner Lake.
