On this week’s Iheartbrooklyn we give you the music special!!!!! This week’s episode covers five days and nights of live shows. We interview two members of Brooklyn/Philly band Skeleton Breath and show you live footage of each band to prepare you to rock…or dance…or just, you know, sway and fold your arms.
Thursday: The Spinto Band at Union Hall.
Friday: Skeleton Breath FREE at Goodbye Blue Monday. BBQ before show!
Saturday: The Village Voice’s free SIREN MUSIC FESTIVAL
Sunday: The Liars free at McCarren Pool/JellyNYC Pool Parties
On this week's iheartbrooklyn.tv we let you know about FIGMENT, a Burning Man-style arts festival that takes over Governer's Island all weekend. In music, we look to Celebrate Brooklyn's indie rock show of the summer at Prospect Park (with the uber-blogged about Cold War Kids), a bit of hip hop history with the Crooklyn Dogers Reunion show, and show you how to get easy like a Sunday morning (er, afternoon) with Detroit/Chicago house legends visiting The Yard for their Sunday Best series. We'll also tell you about The Gates-style public art project of 2008: The New York City Waterfalls from Olfur Eliasson.
This week's Iheartbrooklyn.tv reports on one of the biggest culture controversies to to hit the borough: MTV's REAL WORLD comes to Brooklyn! The location of the house is confirmed—and filming will start this summer.
And in the third installation of our DIY Spaces in Brooklyn series, we cover the Rooftop Films' Summer Series which now not only showcases underground film under the stars three nights a week all summer, but also hosts select evenings of live music.
In further Brooklyn indie coverage, we look at the biggest DIY craft fair in the region, The Renegade Craft Fair. All weekend at McCarren Pool, this huge festival will house hundreds of vendors of handmade goods at reasonable prices--and more, including a tasting documentary-in-process: 1 Bite 7 Days (yes, it involves free food).
Lastly, we tell you where to go for the biggest Gay Pride event of the summer (in Brooklyn, that is): Brooklyn Pride's 12th Annual Celebration, which hits Park Slope in a very big way on Saturday, June 14th. There will be Donna Summer songs involved--and bodies MUCH more toned than yours.
