1. In a world where mukbangs replace actual eating, how are family dynamics, and relationships with significant others affected? Can we truly find fulfillment and satisfaction? In many instances where the answer is no, a young millenium finds a way to somehow say yes.

    Total run time: 05:41

A student attempts to take advantage of her integrated augmented reality technology in order to pass an exam. The film explores the implications for academic dishonesty with the continuous development of technology that is increasingly discreet and portable. 3. Retrospect is an experimental/narrative film that uses sounds and montage to showcase the delicate, slow deterioration of a relationship brought upon by the excess use of technology. The title Retrospect stands for the coalescence between future technology and “retro” vintage technologies such as cassette players. The main character Lily is looking back at her memories in retrospect and reflecting on her romantic relationship with Edwin. Ultimately, this film makes a statement on the impact of technology on human decisions and the nuances that arise from the delicate seemingly symbiotic relationship between man and tech.

Design fictions within this work include an advanced phone OS meant to help the overall lifestyle of its user, phone holograms, and digitally interactive furniture.

  4. The Whole Canoe Presents..

Just mere byproducts of the Intelligence Race (commonly known in this society as World War III) between several nations, machines named Turings, with advanced artificial intelligence and physical features that make them appear human, struggle to assimilate into society in the aftermath. However, anti-Turing sentiment rapidly permeates, and the discrimination overpowers the small minority that actually consider Turings as sentient beings who deserve equal rights. An inspirational school teacher fond of his philosophy of equality for all, especially for Turings, finally reaches his breaking point... literally. Our film strives to address discrimination against minorities, or those considered as “other”, and the indifference of those who are not directly involved with the unjust prejudice.

  5. Our film considers a world with no language barriers. Hailey Schneider is a college student who, like everybody else, uses real-time translating earpieces to communicate. She is suspected of foul play after the NSA taps into her earpieces. This film contemplates the right to privacy and how this technology would affect our daily interactions, as well as how it could eventually be manipulated by its users.
