This is the introductory video for the experimental keynote by the IML's Holly Willis and Virginia Kuhn for the HASTAC 2010 conference, Grand Challenges and Global Innovations. The IML is a virtual hub and our charge is to discuss digital pedagogy. Holly and Virginia answered the call by launching a series of videos that will be deployed live on a posterous site (iml.posterous.com/) in a VJ style dialogue on April 18th 2010 at 8:00 PST.

The videos will address five issues centered on "Digital Pedagogy and Literacies of the Near Future": defining the field; the relationship of the digital to traditional academic literacies; fair use, IP and copyright; the role of aesthetics in digital work; and, finally, the role of academia in a digitally networked world.

This space was created for the Hacking the Academy, a week-long crowdsourced book project growing out of THATcamp, George Mason University, May 21-28, 2010.

This particular entry is culled from the recent HASTAC conference, April 15-17, 2010 which was entirely virtual. These videos, by Holly Willis and Virginia Kuhn, served as one of the keynote addresses as Willis and Kuhn live-blogged them, VJ style during the conference. The 11 videos are grouped here, and consist of one short introduction by Willis and Kuhn, and then five clips each (for a total of ten 2-3 minute-long clips) done individually and centered on five themes surrounding digital pedagogy.
