We live in a fractious age. From home and hearth to the centers of political power, disagreements become divisions and more and more divisions become departures. And as we know, the church is far from immune to such pressures. Yet as those called to lead Christ’s work of restoration and reconciliation our unity is an essential dimension of our mission, a dimension too easily threatened. Dr. Richard Mouw, president of Fuller Theological Seminary, offers an address on what it means to confess “one holy, worldwide, and apostolic church.” How do we place as much value in our togetherness as we do in our purity and our sense of ministry?
