This is part of a series under development. The starting point was a long held desire to make moving abstract works inspired by Rothko. The work is generated entirely in AfterEffects using very slowly evolving particles. Its designed to be shown on high quality large LCD panels that can display the fine detail of the rendered particles.
Shot in May 2008 in an area near Kangaroo Valley, NSW. I was spending some time at the Arthur Boyd property "Bundanon", as part of their artist in residence program. I had been planning to visit this location as part of my stay because I had stumbled on it two years earlier but didn't have a camera with me at the time. Apart from some colour adjustment and slowing of the footage no other manipulation has been made. This was just one of those fortunate moments when the elements combined to make this the perfect shoot.
