The PeaceCasters “Making Media That Matters” project is profiling youth working to create a better world. They recently sat down with Chad Kamen of Team Food Chain. Here is their interview.
PeaceCasters is a multicultural leadership group of youth, ages 12 – 17 who use their skills in peacemaking, communication and teamwork to develop short form videos that reflect Peace Education’s teachings and values around conflict resolution, respect for diversity and prejudice reduction. The PeaceCasters mission is to empower youth to explore messages of peace and cooperation through digital media. Core to our program is equipping young people to appreciate and explore peace and diversity in their own communities and to create related videos in their own unique voices.
Team Food Chain is a non-profit project aimed at combating hunger in Kentucky. It is an award winning nonprofit organization supporting efforts to better nourish Kentucky. "Team" is the operative word. We have created a model that will have a substantial impact in the future as a "for-purpose" rainmaker in the hunger relief/health system landscape.
Team Food Chain does not provide any programming, rather, we have found a unique niche as a champion of both adequate nutrition and compassion for all. Since we are not tied to specific functions as a non-profit, we are able to fundraise, connect sponsors, and advocate without competition or conflict of interest. Our mission is to enhance and enable program providing organizations to be even MORE effective.
