This week Steve talks about some of the great contrasts in the early church. We see them in great unity, doing signs and wonders, and not long after, in division and hypocrisy. What lessons can we learn and how do we stay focused on the central message of the risen Christ?
This week we look at Peter who denied three times that he even knew Jesus. Tradition teaches that Peter stayed the course, finished the well and was eventually executed because of his faith in Jesus. This idea is not just lightly said. To be all in for the characters in the book of Acts was to be identified with a cause that would most likely cost them their lives! All IN still costs today. It is a call to vulnerability. It is a call to generosity; a constant death to self and calibrating our lives to be “others centered” The dangers are just as real as in the first although so much more subtle.
