This sermon, based on Proper 12 lectionary text 2 Kings 4:42-44, was preached at First Baptist Church of Waynesboro, Virginia, on my 5-Year Anniversary as Associate Pastor there.
This sermon was interactive, allowing the congregation moments to write reflections on a paper plate that was distributed at the beginning of the worship time. Worship also included a time of communion. The reflection times and communion have been edited out of this video for the sake of brevity.
This ended up being one of my longer sermons (sorry Larry!).
Preached on the Fourth Sunday of Advent 2011- December 18, 2011, this sermon was the concluding sermon in a series based on Advent Conspiracy. (adventconspiracy.org) (The three preceeding sermons were preached by Rev. David Washburn.)
In the earlier service, the sermon was introduced by a clip from Mr. Bean's Christmas. The Rudolph song was actually played during the sermon and the sermon concluded with "God Help The Outcasts" from Hunchback on Notre Dame.
This is a sermon I preached May 29, 2011 at First Baptist Church of Waynesboro, VA. It was one week in a series of sermons our pastor was preaching from 1 Peter. The sermon series was entitled, "Season of Encouragement." I found the passage to be a very difficult one, but did what I could to bring the pssage to life. Surely one of the hardest sermon study prep weeks I have ever had.
