After driving for 30 straight hours from Georgia to Wyoming, we camped out near Grand Teton National Park and woke up the next day and decided to check out Mesa Falls. What we found was a perfect 60-foot double drop running at a juicy flow. Stay tuned for episode 2!
After getting some good free-falling in at Mesa Falls, we hopped in the truck and started driving Northwest toward our final destination of BC. After checking the map, we realized that we would be driving through Banks, ID and past the North Fork of the Payette! Unwilling to miss the opportunity to crush some big water, we found a campsite near the take-out and rallied early the next morning. We waited at the take-out for the fabled Middle section with hopes that we'd run into a group of locals willing to show us the lines. Unfortunately, it was early in the morning and nobody showed up. Undeterred, we decided to put on the Lower section (which still has some great rapids) and "rout that shit blind." It was by far the biggest volume water that any of us had read-and-run without any beta, and great times were had by all (even if Jesse did get stuck in a hole for a few seconds). Stay tuned for Episode 3!
After three badass days in Idaho the crew loaded up in the truck and bee bopped on over to the great state of Washington. We decided to forgo a low-water tour through Hood River and instead made our way towards BC via Leavenworth and the Tumwater Canyon. We ran into a big-water ninja from McCall named Will and he showed us some fun and challenging lines through the rapids, and when we got the the Big One at the bottoms (Last Exit V+) I just couldn't get enough so I hiked back up and ran it three more times. Stay tuned for Episode 4 and our journey into Canada!
