Saturday April 25th, take a Discover Scuba Diving class with your friends at Southern California Outdoor Adventurers. Our certified scuba instructors will teach us the basics. We will go through a few flip charts, get outfitted with scuba gear on the pool deck then get in the water. The whole experience is about 2.5 hours.
Once in the water, things happen at your speed. If you are uncomfortable during any part of the process, just standup. Yep it is that simple. Eventually, we will work our way to the deep end where you can move about just like you would in the ocean. Floating weightless in the water is an amazing experience. While there are no fish in our heated and chlorinated pool, it will be easy to envision what it would be like to swim right up to a wild Garabaldi - the California State fish or swim through a kelp forest that you see in scuba diving magazines.
Big D aka Dario, Nora and myself paddled around LBC last Thursday. Perfect weather, great company and cooperative birds made the day fantastic. While I am not a birder we did see: Blue Heron, American Oyster Catcher and a smattering of super tiny birds. I found some funky music to mix it to: Tyler Straub - Drawn Faces
