  2. In the cool of the evening, I was filming some bumblebees up at the pungent bee balm, when I noticed two bumblebees mating on the ground...

actually, they are using a bee balm "stalk" as their mating spot.

The male appears to be in for the ride of his life... he even beats his wings when it looks like they might fall down.

Also watch the female bumblebee reach up with her middle legs and stroke the male bumblebee...

Those shouts are the neighbor kids playing hide and go seek...

OH, and see if you can see that sowbug on the stalk nearby.. he's also enjoying the show :-)

  3. I shot this snail with my Sanyo HD1000 on the shore of the Baltic Sea. It looks like the alien, doesn't it? :))) On this video you can see the problems with auto focus in macro mode. Sometimes camera fails to focus on the foreground and focuses on the background instead. I'd use the manual focus but then I'd have to be very careful with keeping the distance between the camera and the snail the same all the time.

Usually I try to keep ISO on minimum (50) and set the shutter to 1/100 - 1/60 in low light conditions. This way I can shoot smooth videos at 60fps with very little noise.

  4. No post work. Straight out of my Sony SR-11. Caught this little guy spinning a web out on my patio set.

  5. I just started to film insects and i don't like the way tripods work.
On a tripod your camera describes a circle and "looks" from the inside out.
What i want is that the camera is rotating around the subject.
    So i invented this arm.
I have never seen it before so i had to make it myself.
