Does potentially saving up to 15 minutes per patient interest you and your orthopedic practice? According to our user surveys, that’s exactly what they experienced when implementing our orthopedic-specific EHR system and new patient intake app, called modmed® Kiosk, into their offices.
During this informative webinar, you’ll see how modmed Kiosk fully integrates with the #1 orthopedic EHR system*, EMA™, to speed up the patient intake process and save your staff time. By letting patients update their medical information and sign consent forms on an iPad, you can free up your staff to focus on patient care rather than data entry.

Today we're going to take a look at modmed Kiosk, our electronic patient app, available on the iPad.
Utilizing kiosk can help decrease paper clutter, eliminate manual data entry along with potential errors and improve patient engagement while helping to ensure patient data is complete and up-to-date.
When your patient arrives at the front desk, they would be handed an iPad instead of a clipboard with papers.
Existing patients can locate themselves in the system by entering their first name, last name and date of birth.
The patient is then prompted to navigate through all of the practice’s required check-in documents such as HIPAA policies and financial consents. He or she can sign them with their finger or stylus directly on the iPad - eliminating the need for pen and paper.
In addition, the front desk can print a copy if requested by the patient.
One feature in modmed Kiosk that proves extremely beneficial is the pharmacy map search.
The kiosk pulls up the patient’s home address, and he or she can see all the pharmacies in the area. By using the visual aid of the map, the patient can select the desired location. Now the selected pharmacy has been added as their pharmacy of choice.
After that, the patient goes through the tabs where they can update their medical history as needed. Once the patient finishes and logs out, they would then return the iPad to the front desk staff.
Any updates the patient makes on the kiosk would then trigger a prompt for the medical staff to accept or deny. modmed Kiosk automatically loads the information into our EHR system, EMA.
Our patient kiosk helps create a streamlined, easy process for both patients and staff, enabling you to more efficiently check patients in while helping to increase patient engagement and improving their overall visit experience.

My name is Lindsey Ray, I am over the billing department for Lemak Sports Medicine. Before we went with EMA, we were on paper charts, so none of our doctors had really ever used an EMR system before, which was a little bit of a challenge at first. We had trainers out there for a week or two weeks and they’re a phone call away or a text message away. With EMA, the customer service is amazing. What I can say that sets EMA apart is the coding that comes out of it. Many offices don’t always have certified coders on staff. And having EMA that specialized with coding - it makes a big difference. One doctor in particular, was getting Level One office visits every single time. Since switching to EMA, because it requires you to put in certain fields, he’s now getting Level Threes, Level Four sometimes, which has definitely increased his revenue.
EMA has definitely helped our workflow. Prior to EMA when we needed an addendum from a doctor, we would have to send them over a spreadsheet asking for an addendum. They had to take hours out of their day to do those. Now there’s less of those just because EMA makes sure that everything’s in the documentation for that plan. When they’re picking a specific diagnosis, the plans come along with it and they’re not having to look through a million things. Their top used plans come up for them, and it just makes the workflow so much better. Especially when you’re so busy and you’ve got to get those charts done so you can see the next patient. The thing that people are most excited about in using EMA is just how everything’s right there at your fingertips, and it’s so easy to use. It’s so easy to train and implement into our workflow, so it’s definitely saving them time.
Modernizing Medicine has been really great about accommodating our needs. Any time we have a question, any time we’ve requested an update, it’s always done for us or always looked into. They’re always improving the product. So we’re looking forward to the future, and growing with them.

Here is a transcription of the entire video: The benefits are that all the plans are orthopedic-specific. There is no templating or such. Yes, you can change certain little things but it is a plug-and-go system. You can start up and be on the run immediately. For us that was very important. Your notes look very professional and you can do that the first day which is great.
