1. During a recording session in January 1938, somebody told Sonny Greer that they couldn't follow his triplets and other compound rhythms. That was a mistake! Listen to him set them straight. Plus that, it's a rare example of hearing how Ellington leads them through a new piece - well, not exactly a new piece, since they had recorded it with the big band in 1936, but clearly they had to get the small group version together.
