DiaWare is a Type 2 diabetes awareness campaign for university students. The campaign informs students about the risks associated with unhealthy diet and lack of physical activity that may lead to type 2 diabetes, as well as about the importance of tracking their lifestyle.
Be Aware. DiaWare.
Break the Binary Code video aims to bring awareness regarding constraints that result from creating gender specific spaces (restrooms), the need for non-binary language and the need to create gender-neutral environments, especially in high schools. The interviewees discuss their unique accounts regarding gender issues and gender identity. The video also strives to elicit empathy by giving the viewer a sense of what it was like to be in the interviewees’ shoes, from a teacher’s point of view, and from the perspective of a transgender student.
The purpose of this project is to assist parents and teachers with resources necessary to have a conversation about digital citizenship with their children and/or students. Our program utilizes a synthesis of social media platforms, lesson plans and a workshop in order to educate our target audience. Through qualitative research, observations and interviews with subject matter experts, we were able to identify that our target audience has a need for a program like this. While this project gives a voice to parents and teachers and in turn help others like them, the actual logistical goal of our initiative is to assist teachers and parents in helping adolescents become better digital citizens.
