Rocco Kayiatos, best known by his stage name Katastrophe, is an Brooklyn based hip-hop rapper and producer. He is widely credited as the first openly transgender singer in the hip-hop genre and he often incorporates his being a trans man in his work. Rocco's newest album, 'Second Hand Emotion', is a 'a 40 minute exploration of love, loss, betrayal, heartbreak and triumph, all in the form of poppy hip hop with a 90s RNB influence.'
‘Skin’, directed by Paul Harnett and choreographed by Sergio Giacomelli, is a short film that explores identity.
It takes a look at the inner and outer representation we have of ourselves, and how these can sometimes be conflicting. This piece also addresses gender identity, but can be applied to anyone who feels differently on the inside to how they are perceived externally. We hope that the use of dance and sign language makes this film universal and that we are able to reflect, in anyway, the situations of those who feel differently, to the way they are perceived by the world.
