  2. ‘All Things Big Dream’ is a duet loosely based on Charles Darwin and his wife Emma, in honor of Darwin’s 200th birthday and the 150th anniversary of ‘The Origins of Species’. Some of my ideas are based on the strange unexpected behavior of Darwin during the period of 1844-59 in which his manifest sat on a shelf. During this time, Charles and Emma’s relationship was caught in a web of turmoil. Emma was battling with her strong religious faith and her husband’s radical new theory’s and beliefs. Charles himself was battling with sickness and possibly mental breakdown. So I’ve begun movement investigation to abstractly represent each character’s essence as well as revealing the tension between them and their separate beliefs. I continue to play with their sense of unity but also Emma’s need to be a caregiver
