1. As part of the honors course "The Art and Science of Lava" the attempt was made to form a shield volcano - Mauna Loa, Kilauea, etc. - by pouring in a "J" shape tube with the lava slowly emerging upward, overflowing, pooling, growing outward, etc. This was the fourth attempt, a success in terms of uniformity and effusion rate.

  2. Crystals are beautiful, but more beautiful are the processes of forming crystals, i.e. crystallization. This film recorded the crystallization processes of 5 salts. We first added droplets of saturated salt solutions on glass slides. The evaporation of water initiated the crystallization processes inside the droplets, which were captured by time-lapse photography.
