  3. This short video shows the x and z axis test for the upgraded "boxed" design of my repstrap project. This time the axis are threaded rod driven for improved stability ( although the speed difference with the belt driven approach is quite appalling, but i can live with that) More info on the project here http://www.kaosat.net/?p=978

    Btw , my axis "names" might be off, i'm a bit stuck on the openGl coordinate system (x and z are the horizontal axis, Y is the vertical axis)

Y axis test for the second version of my Repstrap project : unfortunately , this is the only case where this axis worked as expected, the stepper motors , stripped from an old printer, don't really handle the weight well, so they will very likely be moved to the upper part of the structure instead of below the axis.

  5. Made a few adjustments and installed the new stepper motors so the vertical axis finally works reliably !!
    They are both wired to the same stepper controler (well within limits : 1.2 Amps for two steppers).
    Of note : they have a step angle of 0.9 instead of 1.8 , hence the somewhat slower movement, although for a vertical axis, it is no problem
