BiCi_N is a living map of Barcelona which is drawn and redrawn as the city it depicts regenerates, as the city it documents rewrites itself. BiCi_N is a story about this city collected and assembled by the users of the city as they go about their daily routines. Multiple bicycles of Barcelona's new transportation system, Bicing, were equipped with A/V (Audio/Video) and GPS (Global Positioning System) devices in order to collect the everyday qualitative and quantitative aspects of the city via the routine of its inhabitants.
Out of these numerous individual fragments of the city, a collective story is assembled daily as visitors, scroll, play, fast-forward to "compose a manifold story that has neither author nor spectator, shaped out of fragments of trajectories and alterations of spaces: in relation to representations, it remains daily and indefinitely other." 1
